Egrets

The Great Egret:

Scientific Name: Ardea alba

It is also known as the American egret, angel bird, white crane and plume bird. It is in the family of herons, which means it is related to herons.

Description: It has a long yellow-orange bill. It has a long white neck and large white body. It's wings, when down, look like the edge of a peacock feather (a white peacock feather). It has black legs and black feet. Unlike the snowy egret who has a short neck, the great egret's neck looks like a really thin pole.

Foods: It eats fish, frogs, crayfish, snakes and insects. If the Suisun Marsh disappeared, the great egret would probably die or move to another place. They would die because the Suisun Marsh is one of their habitats.
